At rest, uses 256-bit AES encryption, a protocol that is virtually unbreakable. Tresorit uses the same 256-bit AES encryption and has also been audited for ISO27001:2005 and SSAE 16 certification, so you can be sure it’s secure.

The web interface has a “shared with me” page, but it lacks one that shows what you’ve shared with others. The desktop app lets you share, too, but only by generating a link.

You'd expect bugs in beta.

Release the keys when you see the Apple logo, a spinning globe, or a prompt for a firmware password. When you see the Utilities window, you've started up from macOS Recovery.

Unfortunately that doesn't disable it. I've updated the post to make that point clearer. It seems like that option was added, but doesn't actually control anything. Maybe that UI option was never actually wired into the functionality /shrug.
